Iain and myself spent a few hours fishing that day - with limited success, I have to say. Ah yes, master angler Redcoat caught a few sunfish while he was trying to show off with his float fishing skills. Call me unimpressed!
Anyhoo, mid afternoon, we tried fishing from a local dock. You'll notice a bit of Boston's background, but I took the pic to show you that there was a plaque on the dock...
And here is a larger pic of the plaque in question.
Do pay attention to the strange date (July 2020). Now the question is... How do you interpret this text?
Here is my interpretation (after I scratched my head for a little while! Having nothing to do while royally blanking!).
I think this is a man speaking, he's in his 60s, married, and he enjoys a very strong relationship with his spouse. I think they got married on July 8th, 1970. Therefore they'll be married for 50 years on July 8th, 2020. That is, if the husband is still alive by then, but he's getting quite frail and knows the end is near.
Those old fellows took in the cute habit of calling their spouse "my life". The old lady really loves this view of Boston, the river, the old bridge. The old man really loves... his wife. And the text is written in the perspective of 2020, and sadly the old guy will have passed away by then.
Oh, and they are both very romantic people, and a bit old-fashioned -- or maybe I am!
Am I making sense? Do you have another creative interpretation?
