The story
On an impulse, I decided to go spend my birthday on a new venue I barely fished so far, to test a new swim that I had located end of last year. My friend Domm came with me on a rather rainy day. And miracle, the new swim (and quasi-new venue) delivered a solid number of mirrors. All small fish though, 10 to 12 pounds. But well, multiple mirrors from a brand new spot, this was a cool birthday.
We started around noon, chummed a bit, set up our gear and waited without having any idea what would happen. After a while, we started to hear a few beeps, and finally a run. Here is the very first fish we caught, Domm was the happy angler.
I had positioned a rod quite far away, thanks to the flexibility offered by my 'silent' ATT alarms (which I am very happy with!), and this gave me my first mirror of the year, quite a cutie. Note the single scale on the body on one side, and not the other!
Here are a few more catches which followed.
We caught a couple more, and this slowed down by the end of the afternoon. I was carrying stuff to my car when I heard a strange sound in my pocket! Is it my cell phone? No, it was my 'silent' alarm proving its great usefulness! So I ran back to the swim, Domm hadn't even noticed that my rod was peeling line like crazy! And I landed a fish which looked quite similar to the very first one I caught earlier. A very cool ending for a nice birthday session.
