Introduction

I need to brag a little... I won the Carp Anglers Group's Big-4 event in the fall of 2019. I was behind by a few pounds with one hour of fishing left to go during my fall trip and a miracle occurred (after a full week of dismal results). I got a very timid take (I actually thought it was a catfish for a few seconds) which turned out to be an immaculate 36 pounder (36-8lb to be exact). And this last minute catch made me secure the win against the fearsome Claytons after battling with them for weeks!

Quite amazingly, although I went through a month-long road/fishing trip, my top 4 fish came from one single day of fishing at the very beginning of the trip until this last-minute catch made me improve my score by a few pounds. And those 4 fish were all 30 pounders (in order of display below: 34-8lb, 32lb, a 38lb beast, and another 32lb), ALL CAUGHT IN A SINGLE DAY. All credits to a good friend who brought me to a secret spot of his, which he had chummed for days.

Final Score

Since I am going to brag about this story for years to come, here is hard proof, the final score of the event. Note that not only I scored more than 140 pounds for the Big-4, but I went over 200 pounds for the unofficial Big-6 count (thanks to a 30lb I landed from another location during my trip). Kody Clayton did crush me for the biggest fish though... This winning score is going to be extremely hard for me to beat.

I actually won the Big-4 three times so far. Just for the record, here are links to posts documenting event results and pics:

But then, to put things in perspective, during other instances of the event, some 'out of this world' results were logged:
